Since getting involved in blogging and it opening my eyes to many, many things [some which I'm glad to have been educated on... others - such as the uninvited dick pics - not so much] via Twitter, one thing I've got more passionate about is supporting eco friendly, cruelty free brands and independent businesses.

I've always tried to do me bit for the world, with recycling & caring for nature / animals and that... but it wasn't until I was exposed to this whole new world [yes, I'm totes humming the song from Aladdin now... how much of a tune is that tho, pls? Used to smash that on Singstar at uni] of brands, tools and resources that I realised how many other ways there are to be kind to the planet. One of the ways I wanted to talk about today being buying from brands who champion sustainability & recycling; like So Eco - the face of responsible beauty.

This fab brand sell only eco-friendly and cruelty free vegan makeup brushes; made from recycled & sustainable materials that are compostable, recyclable & bio-degradable. With super soft, cruelty free bristles. The brushes' handles are made from bamboo; an ecologically sustainable material and their packaging is FSC approved board from managed forests. Even the plastic looking protective part on the front of their packaging is made from corn starch and not some pure indestructable plazzy that'll wash up on in beach in Cornwall in twenty years.

The outer packaging is held together with water based adhesives and even printed using vegetable inks. They've thought of everything - and it really makes me question why other brands can't be as forward thinking with their attitudes towards packaging & wastefulness.

I was very kindly sent the Angled Eyeliner Brush* & Eye Shading Brush* from their collection to try out - and they're as fab as this brand's eco-friendly stance on beauty... ie VERY. Both brushes boast beautifully soft, hand trimmed bristles that are suitable to use with liquid & powder formulas - for professional looking results. Their stylish bamboo handles [which totes remind me of Tarte brushes, just hella more affordable & accessible to us UK gals!] have precision comfort grip bits on them; allowing you to comfortably yet precisely grip ya tools as you sculpt out that perfectly carved brow or winged liner flick - they're ergonomically designed to help you get a proper hold of the brushes, for best results.

The Eye Shading Brush is a versatile all-rounder when it comes to eye makeup application. You could also potentially use it as a small, precise concealer brush. It's bristles are soft but combine to create a firm brush head; which takes no sh*t when it comes to achieving results. You can pick it up in Sainsburys for a fiver.

The Angled Eyeliner Brush is dead flat with precisely angled bristles - which when combined with the specially shaped handle, gives you the precision to create clean lines around ya lashes. It's lightweight and easy to control; which is essential when it comes to creating that perfect wing. It's also on offer for just £3.99 at Fragrance Direct at the moment, but normally also retails for a fiver.

It's definitely something to think about, the next time you splash out a small fortune on makeup brushes. Are the bristles cruelty free, are they bio-degradable - or are they likely to end up in a landfill site for the next 30 years after you've finished using them?

So Eco brushes are available to buy in Tesco and Bodycare stores; as well as online at Amazon, Fragrance Direct, Sainsburys and Soinvogue

The world is a beautiful place, so let's keep it that way.
