I loveeee discovering beauty hacks and quirky gadgets to make my life easier. As a lazy / somewhat rushed for time / terrible excuse for a girl, I often neglect little jobs like washing my makeup brushes and beauty blenders. I tend to just throw them into my makeup storage and hope for the best - and when I do wash them, I have no system in place when it comes to drying them, either. Which makes me put off this laborious chore even more.
I fear that admitting this so publicly might make me look like a little bit lot of a tramp, but I defo overlook the cleanliness of my beauty tools at the moment - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's something I hadn't even really considered until recently, when I've seen some horror stories floating round on Twitter, warning of the perils of using unsanitised brushes & blenders.
I don't really want my face to burn off [or to undo my months of work on my skincare regime] by blending bacteria into my pores - so when Basic Beauty Tools dropped me a line about their collection of innovative makeup solutions the other week, it couldn't have come at a better time.
I hope you're ready, because the simplicity yet practicality of what I'm about to share with you will blow your mind.
Basic Beauty Tools have literally just launched [shop their US site at www.basicbeautytools.com or the UK store via www.basicbeautytools.co.uk] and their understanding and passion for hygiene and quality when it comes to makeup sponges is next level.
Chantal, the brains behind this fab new brand, believes that makeup sponges should never be left rolling around on makeup tables or in drawers [which was pretty much my exact set up] as this can cause them to gather dust, bacteria and mould. Nice. And the horror continues - when you realise that all the nasties now living in our makeup blenders... get put back on our faces, as we carefully blend out that contour.
This brought about the Spongedry* [as seen above] - a pretty little gadget that can be used to store and dry your make up sponges & beauty blenders once washed - both elegantly and hygienically [and on top of that, it's collapsible for easy transportation and looks pretty beaut too.]
Every Spongedry [rrp £14.99] comes carefully packed in a cute colourful box with a Foundation Blender in the colour of your choice - plus a convenient little travel pouch, for storing it while you're on the move. It's super easy to use and comes in really handy when you're applying your makeup; as well as when it comes to the dreaded task of washing & drying your sponges.
The foundation sponge / blender you get included with your Spongedry is frigging awesome too - its shape makes it ideal for getting into all the nooks & crannies of your face, and its texture and softness means that it blends in your foundation, highlighter, cream contour or concealer like an absolute dream.
I was lucky enough to be sent a separate Foundation Blender* from Basic Beauty Tools too - which, after trying out the one included with the Spongedry and loving it so much - was an amazing added bonus.
You can totally buy these high quality makeup sponges separately - as well as with the Spongedry, in the colour of your choice for just £5.99. The sponges are latex free, with a bouncy, flexible micro cell texture, multi faceted sides for precise application and expand when they come into contact with water. They're the ideal tool for a flawless finish every time and at a price which won't break the bank.
Talking of banks / money, I've got a treat for you - if you fancy dipping your toes into the Basic Beauty Tools pool of life and blending glory, simply enter my code NIKKI15 at the checkout for 15% off your order. BOOM. Life, your contour game and blending as we know it will never be the same again.
How are you when it comes to keeping your makeup brushes and beauty blenders clean? How much do you need a Spongedry in your life?!
