Dresses are the best! They truly are, and below, we're going to clue you in on why. Oh, and if you are wondering why you need seven dresses in your wardrobe, it's because we think they are so good that you should wear one every single day!

You can dress them up or down.

There is nothing as versatile as an LBD, but that is not the only reason we're championing dress-wearing here. Indeed, one of the biggest advantages of choosing dresses over any other garment type is that you can easily dress them up for a more formal look or dress them down for a day out with the girls or a casual date.

If you wonder how this magic can be worked, you'll be delighted to know that it's an incredibly easy process. For example, when you have a formal event, you can style your dress with tights or bare legs, high heeled shoes such as strappy sandals, and some blinging jewellery. You can even add a blazer or smart jacket and a hat if you are off to the races (or a wedding)!

Dresses

For a more relaxed look, go for leggings or bare legs and style with flat shoes: either ballerina pumps or retro, flat-soled canvas shoes like converse or Superga. Add a cardigan and a scarf, and you have the perfect low key outfit.

They can optimise your look

Another reason that women's dresses are so wonderful is that any body type can wear them. Indeed if you pick the right style, they balance out the shape of your body, and even draw attention to your most favorite assets.

For example, those of us with a pear shape can wear a sleeveless dress on top, with full skirts. While those of us rocking the apple shape can benefit from empire line dresses that gather in just below the bust. Folks with stellar pins can go for short styles like mini and micro-minis, and those ladies blessed with an ample bust can opt for V or scoop neck styles if they so prefer. In fact, there is a dress that will make you feel your best no matter what your shape or size!

You can wear them in summer or winter.

Lastly, dresses are such a brilliant wardrobe item for women because they can be worn all year round. In the summer, you can go bare-legged and opt for flat sandals. Indeed this can be a much more comfortable option when the weather is hot, especially if you choose a dress made from breathable fabric like cotton or linen.

Conversely, in the winter, you can add long-sleeved shirts underneath, as well as fleecy leggings, snuggly socks, and boots. Indeed, you can still get that wonderful shape that the dress creates but stay warm and toasty no matter how cold things get. Now, if that isn't enough to make you head online and stock up on dress, we don't know what is?!

Oh before I go... on the subject of dresses & gowns...

There's one type of gown every woman should have in her wardrobe (just flat out everyone should have, tbh.) A dressing gown. Women's dressing gowns - as well as helping you stay toasty during the colder months / being ideal to slip on when you've got ya hair in rollers and don't wanna risk knocking your curls out of shape with an over-the-head jumper or hoody...  are just perfect to throw on and lounge in. The ultimate in comfort - and, in our post-COVID #WFH life, comfort at home has never been more important than now. If you're not in your dressing gown with a brew pretending your camera's broke on that Monday morning Zoom call... are you really even working from home?!
