All my dreams have come true [well, a small portion of said fantasies, like.. but let's continue with this bold, overdramatic statement / positive vibezzzz and pretend I'm not living on pasta & tap water till 2018 & that they actually have] - and I've only gone and managed to get my mitts on a frigging at-home IPL hair removal device haven't I!

I've been lusting over these gadgets for pure time - I've wanted to try one ever since I knew they existed [and since I read all my gal Gweni's posts on hers, featuring sexy hairy leg shots. Erotic.] And the one I've been sent is just so beautifully designed & aesthetic AF - just look how gorgeous it is!  Is this not the most Instagrammable method of hair removal you've ever seen?! It's so classy and easy to hold.

ANYWAY. Where was I before G Bear's legs distracted me? Oh yeah - so this is the white SmoothSkin Bare*, my new pride & joy and the gadget I can't wait to put to the test over the next few months, in the constant battle against body hair. Not that I'm some kind of Yeti, mind; the battle's not that ferocious.

In case you're unfamiliar with IPL and what this term means, here's a cheeky rundown for ya. Basically, devices using this technology for hair removal purposes are designed to help break the cycle of hair growth. They don't pluck, shave, wax or extract the hair through any potentially painful methods; they use the energy of light to do their thaaaaang.

The light energy [which is released when you 'flash' the device on the skin... pahha I'm so immature, I lol at the word flashing everytime hahaha #streaker] get transferred through the skin’s surface and is absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft. This absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy [below the surface of the skin], which disables the hair follicle preventing further growth. Treated hairs should naturally fall out over the course of a few days; to 1-2 weeks.

The Bare is the latest IPL product from SmoothSkin. Beasting out 100 flashes per minute, this little beaut is the fastest home IPL device on the market - and rumour has it that if you follow your treatment regime properly, it will completely replace your shaving routine! I am SO ABOUT THIS - just imagine a life without having to shave ya legs all the time?! I'm really hoping to have my regime in place over the next few months, so I can prep my pins for Summer and kiss razors goodbye.

As I say, this is just a first impressions post - I haven't tried my SmoothSkin Bare just yet; just kinda held it and gazed at its beauty from a distance. I'm off into hospital imminently [possibly being chopped open right as you're reading this post?] so I won't be able to commit properly to the routine until I'm back home & recovered. This means that any testing I'd carry out now wouldn't be effective or a fair test - so if you are interested in seeing how these home IPL devices work, check back over the next few months where I'll be talking about it loads.

For now, you can pick up you own SmoothSkin Bare in a variety of stunning colours here if you wanna try one of these bad boys. The device is stocked in a few places [it's a fab lux Christmas present] but if you decide to order from their website directly, SS offer you the ability to pay it off over 3 months at 0% interest. Which makes it a bit more affordable than having to splash out for it all in one go.
