My life follows this exact pattern:

Have a major operation > Buy a Juvia's Place palette as a treat to myself for not dying > Weep in joy at how beautiful it is > When the drugs wear off, weep in despair at how poor I am and ask the question 'What is my life?' on repeat 23 times a day.

Judging from this oh-so-predictive life cycle / behaviour of mine, I'm guessing you already know why I'm here writing this post today - so let's get down to it. The palette I chose this time, in my latest 'defiance-of-death, post-op' celebration [previously, I went for the Juvia's Place  Saharan Palette] was the Juvia's Place Masquerade Mini Palette and boyyyyy is she a pigmented beast. A pigmented sexy beast.

I mean rly. Look at dem swatches, tho. The colour pay-off is absolutely insane and I am in LOVE with the brighter, top half of the palette; as I've never really owned anything quite so vivid and bright as these shades in all my days.

As I noted with The Saharan, the quality of the shadows in his palette is second to none; they apply beautifully with an almost creamy formula - and some of the metallic shades [such as Casablanca, Zola and Bori] literally took my breath away as I swatched them. You can only imagine the amount of squealing and over-excited swearing that went down in my room when I was furiously swiping these swatches across me arm.

The pans are pretty big, the packaging is striking AF [& inspires you to get creative with colour from-the-get-go] and the shadows themselves are some of the best quality powders I've ever tried. They feel soft, creamy and gentle on the skin; not like some of the palettes I've tried from other brands in my younger life that were dead itchy and irritating on the skin, with that infamous chalky / scratchy texture everyone loves so much. NOT.

The only disappointing pan in this 16 shade palette is Zobo - which although blends really well etc, seems to be the least pigmented and takes the most work to get a decent colour pay-off. The rest of the mattes don't seem to have this problem [and the metallics certainly don't, it's like a pigment party when you stick ya finger into one of them!] but for some reason, Zobo seems to have misplaced its invite to said pigment party. But it's okay, I ain't even mad.

I'm really, RLY hoping I don't have to have another operation for a while... so I probs won't be buying another Juvia's Place palette any time soon. But that's okay - Natwest will thank me, I wanna wait till they bring out some slightly different & more varied shades before splashing out for another one anywayyy and I totes have my eyes on Desert Dusk, most of Colourpop's website and the Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette... so I got plenty to bankrupt myself with yet. Adulting is so cool.

Have you tried anything from Juvia's Place before? Would you buy this palette? What's your favourite shade?
