New Brand Alert : NYK1*

I loveeeee trying out new brands & divulging the proper inside scoop on their range of products. So with that in mind - here's a proper hot-off-the-press one for ya; NYK1.

Via frantic, obsessive scrolling of their website; I've learned they do a whole load of products I'd very much like to try / marry - but for today's post, we're gonna be focussing on their fake tan [plus tanning mitts] & their lash / brow growth serum. All products that are RIGHT up my [metaphorical] street - I've always stood by the motto that life's better with a bangin' tan & a full set of fluttery lashes.

Let's kick off with my one true love; fake tan. So this bottle issss the award-winning NYK1 Tanforce Deep Self-Tanning Mousse* which is sold as a set with the two mitts pictured. Or if you fancy the look of the 2 x luxury tanning mitts but wanna try a different NYK1 tanning product; you can buy them separately here.

The tanning mitts are great - the cute lil babba one being ideal for tanning your face [and weeping over - it's adorable!] and the larger one [the Mega Mitt] ticking all my boxes when it comes to a good old mitt.

The Mega Mitt is lined with plastic inside; which means you don't get stained hands or have any tan disasters with it seeping through the outer, is soft and flexible; made from material that buffs mousse into the skin easily and it washes well too. 10/10 would bang.

The tan is a mousse formula; which is 100% my preferred consistency when it comes to faking dat glow. I find mousses so much easier to use than any other form of tanning product - and that they have so much more even, consistent results.

The foam itself doesn't have that dreaded biscuit smell... plus it's really light and not tacky whatsoever on the skin when you've applied it. It comes out as a white mousse - which I wasn't expecting, as I've only ever used mousses with a colour-guide in them before.

This does, in my opinion, make it a bit harder to use - as you can't see where you've applied it; the same feeling you get when you apply a colourless mist or spray. That being said, as long as you're thorough with your application and buff it as much as possible with the mitt, you'll end up with a bangin' tan. AND - big plus point here for ya; it doesn't stain ya bedding or clothes.

I was surprised when I woke up, after applying this colourless mousse [and even shortly afterwards, tbh] how well the tan had developed. A natural looking, bronze colour; which lasted for quite a lot longer than others I've tried. And which didn't have any weird warm undertones or streaks.

I'll admit I did have a few issues around my wrists and ankles the first time I used it, but I think this was my fault as I haven't had the same issues since. Here's a lil before and after so you can judge the final results for yourself 👏👏👏

Yeah so in a nutshell - foam consistency, fast developing, deep colour, doesn't stain ya bedding, doesn't smell like a million digestive biscuits festering in a sweaty pit somewhere ✅✅✅ - NYK1 Tanforce Fake Tan is one I'll definitely use again.

Now onto the NYK1 Lashforce Eyelash Growth Serum*. I'm going to hold my hands up now and admit that I meant to get proper before and after shots of my lashes; but because I'm a terrible excuse of a human being, I definitely forgot to do this. You'll just have to take my word on this one, huns.

So being brutally honest & tha - I haven't used this serum twice a day as advised... some days I've forgotten to use it even once. It's been a really hectic few weeks since these goodies landed in me life; with that thing they call Christmas & all happening.

The applicator is a dead fine lil brush which you use on the base of your lashes - a little bit like you're drawing on liquid eyeliner. I didn't really expect to see or feel much difference from it in the short time I've been using it... especially given the fact that I've been really flaky in using it & definitely not applied it as often as I should... but I swear, I have noticed a definite difference in my lashes huns. To the extent where I now rub my eyes and assume I have mascara on cos of how they feel.... but I don't.

No joke. They're still quite fine; the serum hasn't really thickened them [they won't ever fully return to their former glory, pre the great eyelash curler disaster of 2004 I don't think] but when I feel my lashes now - or put on my new fave Makeup Revolution Mascara - they are visibly DEFINITELY longer... to the point where some days, I've gone out without wearing falsies [rly, is this even real life] because I've glanced in the mirror and assumed I was already wearing them. Try it. Change a life x

I've really enjoyed trying these new bits from NYK1; a new brand to my life who haven't let me down. I'm going to try and work the Lash Growth Serum into my daily / nightly routine to monitor its effects on my lashes more accurately AND try to be a better human in terms of tanning more regularly over the next few weeks - so this won't be the last you see of this brand on my socials!
