There's nothing quite as relaxing as a nice day at the spa. A good swim, a dip in the jacuzzi and the amazing feeling of stepping into the steam room & sauna. These steamy little rooms of triumph are supposed to open up the pores of your skin and get you sweating all the bad stuff out. Although this isn't a pleasant thought to have when you're sat in there; uncomfortably close to an old man with pure back hair and speedos on, it's probably why your skin feels so good after you leave.
I think the last time I steamed my face was when I was a spotty teenager, and it wasn't nearly as smooth as this. I was sat at the kitchen table with my face over a pan of boiling water and a tea towel around my head. #SEXY
But this bad boy a] doesn't make me look like some kind of swamp monster and b] provides you with the facilities to steam your face, indulge in some deep cleansing & exfoliation AND relax with a hot / cool massage bar - all in one hit.
All the equipment included as part of the kit is pretty easy to use, and comes with full instructions, batteries and the relevant power adaptors. The clean, relaxing and almost medicinal colour scheme of the Sensio Spa also sets you right at ease.
I've been using the kit a couple of times a week, as to not overuse it and damage my skin - and my face feels flipping great. I've always known that my body and skin react well to warm water and steam - even my worst aches, pains and spot-from-hell-breakouts can be eased with a touch of hot H2O - so this has been perfect for me. I don't know why I didn't think of investing in a kit like this sooner!
The Spa unit itself is fab. My skin, eyes and senses feel so relaxed after a steam session. Simply fill your Ionised Hydrotherapy Steamer [keeping within the max-min amounts shown on the side] with water, turn it on and wait for a few seconds. It takes a little while to get going, but once it does - a thick, warm cloud of steam billows out of the adjustable nozzle, and it feels so, so good on your face. Aahhhh.
The Hydrotherapy Facial Steamer softens your skin and opens up your pores, helping massively with trouble areas and in maintaining a healthy looking complexion. I feel like I've proper made it in life, when I sit in front of this. It's a little moment of bliss I can indulge in after a hard day in the office. Which feels especially good, in all this cold weather we're having atm.
This is the Hot and Cool Massage Bar, which is another highlight of this set for me. The differences in temperature you can achieve with it feel amazing; when massaged into freshly steamed, relaxed skin. To be honest, I've even used this on the hot setting to give myself a bit of a back massage; which helped loads with the sciatica type pains I've been suffering with lately.
The top of the bar is a silver, metal plate; which quickly responds and adapts to whichever heat setting you choose.
Your skin should be clean and dry before using this appliance. Simply plug it in with the power adaptor provided and choose your setting. After one minute, the bar will be hot or cold [depending on what you choose] and you can massage away.
The hot setting is undoubtedly my fave - just thinking about it now makes me want to crack my Hot & Cool bar out again and massage my tired skin with it. It's so bloody relaxing and zen.
Next up is the Cleansing Brush, which comes with two heads. There's a brightly coloured brush head and a soft, spongey head too - both for different purposes within your new facial regime. The brush instantly reminded me of Magnitone - but much better value, as for a similar price to just one Magnitone Cleansing Brush, you can get a full five step Hydrotherapy Facial Kit.
The Brush Head is used to exfoliate skin and remove any residual makeup / dead skin cells you might have hanging around. I like to use mine dampened with a light cleanser - I've been using the Balance Me Facial Cleanser at the moment, but will quite often use Neutrogena scubs with brushes like this, too. Run the product onto your skin a little, turn the gadget on and gently brush over your skin in circular motions. The brush has two intensity settings - Setting 1 for daily cleansing and Intensity Setting 2 for exfoliation.
The Soft Sponge Head can be dipped into any light cleansing cream or moisturiser before use. This helps your skin absorb the product better and further encourages circulation around the face, as you use it. Pop the brush onto Intensity Setting 1 and gently massage your skin in circular motions for 5-10 minutes, so the product can fully absorb.
I've been really enjoying relaxing in my at-home spa - I feel super lucky to have got my hands on this Facial kit. If you're looking for an all-in-one skincare solution, this is definitely the product for you.
I think it's pretty good value, retailing at £65, to say you get all these fab pieces of kit included. To buy them all separately would cost considerably more. I'm super impressed with and really looking forward to seeing some changes in my skin. I've certainly noticed it looking brighter and less dull over the past couple of weeks. #Winning
