Happy Valentine's Day, guys!
I know that as a cynical and miserable old b*stard it's not my favourite celebration of the year - but it is a nice opportunity to show some love to those around you, and to yourself!
Life flies by so fast - one minute I'm sat nibbling on a block of cheese and the next, it's the following weekend and I've been so preoccupied with food and my never-ending To Do List I've neglected socialising, washing and life. So let's take this day to spread a little love. Send that old friend you've lost touch with a text, treat yourself to a little pampering / bourbon biscuits / ten extra minutes in bed [or all of the above], make sure your loved ones know you're thinking of them and let's just appreciate what we do have in our lives.
We take so much for granted in life [I'm a prime offender of this] and regardless of whether we're single or with someone at this time of year, we always find ourselves wanting. Wanting gifts, wanting to feel wanted, wanting a partner if we're not already in a relationship. When really, I feel Valentine's should be a day we use to appreciate all that we already have and love. Friends, memories, family & opportunities. Things that a lot of people aren't fortunate enough to have.
I recognise that this post is a lot more mature than last year's [where I ranted about some dude having rented a plane to fly a banner above my gaff telling his gf he loved her and I was pure bitter] but yeno. Sometimes, I can be nice, too [though it's rare.]
I love you all for reading my blog, for the little comments you leave, the Twitter interactions & Insta likes - and the blogisphere itself for introducing me to the truly lovely people I class as friends.
I also love cheese.
Happy Valentine's guys - even if you feel unloved / are single this year, remember that there are plenty of people who love you [including me] and that's all we ever really need in life. Family & friends. Not cards, flowers or puppies. Well, maybe puppies.
