Until recently, I was a massive Antipodes virgin [as well as an all round born again virgin because hello wot is sexual intercourse, pls?] and I'd only ever perved on the brand from afar in Caitlin's beautiful imagery. But now? Now I'm a full on convert, using their products every single day of my existence within my skincare regime.
I've been lucky enough to get me mitts on the Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin-Brightening Light Day Cream* and also their Resurrect Clarifying Facial Toner* [just look at that aesthetic AF packaging, pls!] and after having used them religiously for the last few weeks; I can see why Caitlin - and half of the beauty blogging community, have so much love for this natural, green skincare brand. So naturally - it's time for me to profess my love & sing its praises within the ol' blogosphere, too. Grab yaself a brew, baes.
Antipodes [in case you're not familiar with the brand] are a Scientifically Validated Organic Beauty brand; using only organic and premium natural products in their collection - each of which boast performance proven by science. Their range features some totes revolutionary Vinanza antioxidants from New Zealand - in the form of grown superfruit, nutrient-rich avocado oil and the mega bae itself; anti-blemish Manuka honey.
Manuka honey is actual magic - any skincare product I see boasting this absolute babe of babetown ingredient I just know is gonna be amazing. I had to wear dressings with natural Manuka honey in them when an operation wound I had in 2014 went a bit rogue and honestly - it's healing power & ability to extract the grim stuff inside it was next level. So as soon as I saw that the Brightening Day Cream I was kindly gifted has this magical Manuka bae in it; I knew we were onto a winner, as my skin reacts so well to it.
Antipodes' products and packaging are as green as their labels [I personally adore the brown glass bottles as part of my bathroom aesthetic] & rock that environmentally friendly status. A certified vegetarian brand [which I love as I do firmly disagree with animal testing & am actively trying to cut out brands who continue to endorse it] Antipodes premium natural ingredients are each selected & certified as being safe for humans and the environment. Yaaaaaaaas.
So, onto the products themselves; I guess. I have oily / combo skin, so the absolute queen of a PR I spoke to handpicked these two products to best suit my shiny-ass needs. Which is always something I really appreciate when working with brands; when the stuff they send out has been chosen specifically for you; rather than a mass send-out where everyone ends up posting about the same products everywhere for about 2 years & we all get a bit sick of seeing them.
A decent toner is straight up a fantastic place to start when tackling the dreaded oiliness [and the production of said shiny hell on my face itself] - and I've seen a MASSIVE improvement in my oil-slick of a forehead [and how long my makeup lasts on it, rather than slipping down my rancid face] since incorporating the Resurrect Clarifying Facial Toner into my daily routine.
Spritzing a little of this magical stuff onto a cotton pad and gently massaging it into my face post-cleanse works wonders. As soon as you apply it, you're hit with this beautifully fresh, natural scent [the lavender really dominates the toner's aroma, which is dead relaxing] and you can really feel it tightening and refining ya skin, closing dem pores, as you apply. There's a slight stinging sensation during [which isn't at all painful, just shows you that it's working] - and then bam. Soft, 100% cleansed skin and a reduced oil production line on my face. Winner winner chicken dinner.
This lil pot of Skin-Brightening Light Day Cream is exactly that. It has the lightest, velvety consistency; where a little goes a long way in nourishing your skin. It smells super relaxing and rich - again, quite a hard one to describe; but gorgeous and really comforting. It moisturises and heals problematic skin [ie my whole face] but doesn't leave you greasy or shiny at all... unlike other products, which simply seem to contribute to the shiny oil situation; rather than contain it.
My skin is brighter, softer, more even and plumper since bringing these bad boys into my daily skincare regime - and as I mentioned above, my makeup is also applying better and lasting for longer, without slipping off my face in an oily slick of hell; like it has been known to in the past.
These are only two steps within my daily routine at the moment [not including the new cleanser, night creams, face masks and exfoliators I've been using alongside my Antipodes baes] - but I'm pretty confident that since introducing this toner and day cream to ma life, my skin's appearance & manageability has improved. It's difficult when blogging & testing out various products to necessarily be able to pin-point which product or combination of bits is working best for you... and I know everyone's skin is different & will react in a unique way when faced with the same stuff... but I am pretty damn sure that most of the improvements to my rancid face have been achieved since coating it in these natural, scientifically proven Antipodes' products - and therefore will recommend, rebuy and keep reusing these two lil beauties for the long & foreseeable future!
Have you tried anything from Antipodes before? What products are your go-to guys when dealing with oily / combo skin & breakouts?
