I didn't realise how many primers I was hoarding in me makeup drawer until recently, tbh. There's frigging loads of them. Some of them are pretty turd and I never really touch them... those are the ones found festering right at the back, fully embracing the whole 'out of sight, out of mind' thang. And then, on the flip side, there's the absolute primer prinnys I reach for on the daily / which are regularly slopped all over my massive face

I've never really done a pure primer round-up before - in fact, I hardly ever sh*tting post at all these days; because I'm a terrible excuse for a human who binges on Galaxy Crispy bars rather than blog content. But anyway - that's why I'm here today; to talk about my pre-foundation prepping must haves... it's about prime, after all. Hahahahaha pun city, population me [and lovin' it, 2k18.]

I very much have designated primers for specific occasions, weathers and moods. Hbu? Have I finally full on lost my tiny mind? Depending on where I'm going, the finish I want on my skin and ultimately; how lazy I'm feeling vs how close the primer is to me at the time, I alternate between the following queens of the priming world

All of these products [as you might be able to tell by their not-so-Instagrammable-aesthetic] are well loved and half empty [yes, I'm a miserable, 'glass half empty' little sh*t] - which I'd like to think vouches for my claims of them being pure worldies. There's nothing worse than someone saying 'OMG GUYZ DIS IS MY FAV PRODUCT EVER, YOU HAVE TO TRY DIS' when you can see it's never even been opened and shows up on Depop a few days later. Is there?

As you may be able to tell by the rapidly dwindling amount of product in the cute lil glass bottle, I reach for this primer most days. It's a great all rounder - with a nice smell, pink aesthetic [which always wins for me] and a product which leaves my skin blurred & velvety soft. My foundation applies beautifully smoothly over the top of this stuff. Big fan of this K-Beauty brand.

I wasn't sure how this product would work for me initially, as I have oily, shiny AF skin enough as it is... and I was ded worried a shimmery base product would only exacerbate the problem more. However, this was one of the very rare occasions I will admit to being wrong. I LOVE this stuff - I use it on my body for a beautiful shimmer; as well as a priming base for my makeup. It gives such a fresh, dewy finish; perfect for no-makeup makeup days or for on holiday, enhancing that gorgeous sunkissed glow.

I've used this stuff for years now - and got through a fair few bottles in that time! A little of this primer goes a long, long way - it's really good for mattifying oily, problematic areas. Its formula is thick, lux, totes blurring and leaves the skin feeling like proper swish velvet. Definitely one I'd recommend for my oily-skinned sistas. Milani have some great high end dupes, without the price tags or animal testing component... making them an absolute fave brand of mine.

NYX Pore Filler, £11

Wot is this sorcery? Honestly hun, this stuff is MAD. Its formula and consistency is really airy & fluffy... and it melts onto your skin to leave it the softest you will ever feel it. EVER. It's a little like cement... in a non-scary, 'you're gonna be applying this to your face' way - more in the way that it glides over ya skin and fills / smoothes out any imperfections or noticeable pores. Blurs like a dream, leaves your skin insanely soft. Try it babez. Now, probably.

OBV I didn't pay £30 for this tube, as I'm a self proclaimed tramp's arse. This is a mini, which I got as a sample ages ago. But as far as investments go; I'd probably pay something around that mark for this primer. After, of course, searching madly online for a lower pricetag, obv. Anyway. My makeup lasts for pure time when I use this under my base. And I feel like a proper established adult using something with a high end name on it, even if this is a sample tube that's almost on its last legs.

Wonderland Makeup Studio Finish Primer, £15

I only discovered this brand recently... but queens, this primer is legit amazing. You literally only need a tiny dot of this stuff to cover your whole face - and it blurs, softens and smoothes your skin out an absolute dream. Your makeup also lasts for approx 84 years when you apply it on top of this professional quality primer. Yaaaaaas. I also believe that using code Bloglife15 will knock 15% off the price of your order at checkout. If that sways ya.

Again, a brand I've only recently[ish] discovered during my time blogging, Lisa Blur are defo one to watch. And sample. Lots. This primer literally makes my massive face feel like a big old velvet throw. Soft, rich, luxurious and creating the perfect canvas for the intense foundation / concealing / contouring mission I have to undertake every day to stop small children screaming at the sh*t show that is my face. <3
