Guys, I have freshly brewed tea ready to be spilt here. Like, knocked right over and spilt all over the cream carpet level of tea.
Much as I love Makeup Revolution, this one particular product has mugged me off not just once - but twice, and I'm going into full-on keyboard warrior mode to vent my frustrations online [and see if anyone else has experienced the same thing.]
The offending product: Makeup Revolution Glow Revolution Illuminating Face & Body Spray, in Eternal Gold
It's price: a very cheeky [for Makeup Rev, anyway] £10
Would I recommend it?: NO. Not in this lifetime, hun
Why's it so sh*t?: Well boo, grab that mug of tea & whack a biscuit in it, cos I'm about to tell ya.
Do you guys remember when me & Cally went to the Alex Silver PR Kiss event in Manchester last November? If your memory is a little hazy, believe me, so is mine... we were absolutely smashed, so if you remember any rowdy, incomprehendible Instagram stories with us in it; it was then. Well - I got my first bottle of this sh*t around then, as I wanted to spray it on my person to look all shimmery & alluring at the event.
The only problem was, every time I pressed the spray nozzle, it pressed me back. Like I was having a pure fight with it to get it to spray; and it was winning. I could not - for the life of me - get the b*stard thing to spritz. I took it apart, I cleaned it, I did all the usual life hacks - and for a short time it worked... but then it just outright stopped working & I threw it on the floor in a fiery, incandescent rage.
A few people messaged me and said 'lol, you've got a faulty one, it shouldn't be like dat xox' so I did ya typical attention seeking complaint tweet to Makeup Rev & Superdrug [where I ordered it from] to see if they'd help. Superdrug straight up aired me, which was kind, but MUR did actually get back to me & I ended up in an email conversation with one of their customer service staff.
Eventually I managed to arrange getting a replacement from Makeup Rev HQ. Which I was happy about, as I liked the look of the product & I just bloody wanted to use it. But the MUR representative did say at the time 'I'll send you a replacement but I can't guarantee this won't happen again.' Which didn't sound great. So I asked if this was a known fault & said that that wording worried me; but she said no. And if it happened again, I was pretty much on my own.
And with that in mind, you know what's gonna happen next, don't you. You know exactly what's gonna happen with this replacement sh*tting bottle.
The replacement bottle was, if anything, worse than its predecessor. At least the first one worked momentarily, before it just gave up hope. The second bottle's spray nozzle totally broke and sunk down into the bottle, meaning it now can't be pressed at all. Now I have two of the bloody things that I can't use.
I'll hands up admit I can be clumsy sometimes; but I am no way clumsy enough to have broken two of these bloody bottles within seconds of opening them. I'm not some wild beast unleashed, with no idea what I'm doing & giant man hands destroying everything I touch. This is just a really sh*t product and I'm fully disappointed. Especially with that pricetag - I've never bought a setting spray from MUR that expensive before.
I'm not angry Makeup Revolution. I'm just disappointed. And £10 down. Hoarding a collection of sh*tting useless bottles. Pls fix these blatant packaging issues... this could be a really good formula if the goddamn thing worked for more than 2 minutes. Yeno?
