The other day, BeautyBay emailed me possibly the cruellest newsletter I've ever been sent. The subject? SALE. My stack of credit cards audibly screamed 'Oh HELL no!!' but I ignored their desperate pleas [and all the demanding letters they send me] and obv got fully on board with these amazing beauty discounts.
I didn't go too wild, you'll be pleased to know. Obv, if I had things my way, most of the site would be mine - but there's only very limited available funds left on credit card mountain, so I had to reign it in. WHAT IS LIFE?
Instead of pure hauling and heading straight to Jeffree Star's [extortionately priced, yet beautiful] collection, I decided to use this opportunity to top up my Gerard Cosmetics stash, and fuel my obsession with everything they sell / have sold ever. And in my head, buying these unnecessary [yet beaut items] is more justifiable, if I put them on the blog. So here we are.
Mini Spray All Day Setting Spray in Green Tea, £8.25 reduced from £10
Although this has sneakily gone back up to full price now, I managed to get it cheaper. Yaaaas. I've heard SUCH GOOD THINGS about this stuff - mainly from my girly Em from EmmysBeautyCave blog. And as we're pretty much twins, I'm sure I'll love it too; haha.
Whilst the mini Slay All Day was reduced, I figured this would be a good time to order one, to see if it worked for me before investing full size. Thought that was pretty sensible / controlled for me, that. I will definitely post again with my thoughts on it, once I've given it a fair trial. It'll also be interesting to compare how it rates to the NYX Matte Setting Spray I've grown to love over the past few months.
MY BABIES. Just look at them.
From L-R (above): Gerard Cosmetics Berry Smoothie Lipstick, £8.05 | Gerard Cosmetics Vintage Rose Lipstick, £8.05 | Gerard Cosmetics Tequila Sunrise Lipstick, £8.63 - all reduced from £11.50
I actually ordered Berry Smoothie in the sale a few weeks ago [which is why it looks somewhat mauled / chewed up] but Vintage Rose & Tequila Sunrise are the newest additions to team Gerard. They make me pure emotional - they're so effing beautiful.
I'm obsessed with these lipsticks; I wouldn't even care if they smelled like raw sh*t and applied like a mini portion of hell - their design & shades are just so beautiful. And I mean, it also helps that they don't apply or smell like sh*t either - they smell fruity and are just about everything goals in the beauty stakes.
It's a strong statement to make, but I'm going to throw it out there. Right now, I much prefer Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks to Mac's. Although Mac's packaging is pretty iconic, Gerard's is so much prettier, and more lux. Mac lipstick retails for at least £15 a tube, whereas Gerard's [even when full price] is only £11.50. And I've also found that Gerard's lipsticks seem to last the test of time much longer than my favourite Mac ones do.
Anyway, controversial thoughts aside, here's an unedited swatch photo, so you can see what my three new baes look like on.
Vintage Rose and Berry Smoothie are, admittedly, pretty similar - but Berry Smoothie is quite a bit darker and more plummy, face to face. Tequila Sunrise isn't a shade I'd normally go for, but I actually really like it. It'll be a gorgeous pop of corally colour for Spring / Summer 2017.
