I won't lie, ever since I included 'Show me the Ouai to good hair' in an Instagram caption of mine - and suggested you should sing this line to the classic HearSay song 'Show me the way to your love', I haven't been able to stop serenading the bottles on my dresser with it - dead loud - every time I look at them.
I mean, yolo and that... as firstly - it is an ABSOLUTE ANTHEM and I have no shame in admitting that and secondly; my upstairs neighbour is a satanic arsehole from hell, so anything I can do to annoy him is great. The louder the better. But today I'm here to sing something a little different ... and that is my praises for the beautiful luxury haircare I've been trying out recently from Ouai.
With the brand's use of stunningly minimal design principles and their HUGE range of innovative hair styling products, I was keener than... well, Roy Keane [lol] to put these goodies to the test; which is what I've been up to over the past couple of weeks. In amongst naps and guzzling cheese.
Admittedly, since life took a rapidly downward spiral for me this time last year [ie an up sh*t creek with no paddles - or boat kinda situ] I haven't made much effort with my hair. My roots are now that bad it looks like I've had balayage or some form of dip-dye experimentation [and as if I could afford that right now, lol!] & I did also have to give it a bit of a cut myself; as it all went a bit west just before Christmas. And I'm no hairdresser, I'll tell you that for free.
But disasters, roots and seriously questionable cuts aside; I'm determined to get my life back on track this year & sort my hair right out [pls, pass me the bleach] - and these products are guaranteed to fix me right up. If they work this well on the sorry state of affairs that is my current hair situation, when I've actually brushed it, got a professional to have a quick look over it and dyed it again I'll be BALLIN'.
OUAI Haircare are aaaall about creating tousled, textured tresses; whilst relaying a refreshing and unique perspective on haircare to their customers. Another fab thing about this Parisian inspired company is that as well as making friggin fantastic, professional quality products; they also work to ensure that their luxury products are accessible to the consumer [ie not priced at about £65 for a sample sized bottle of hair oil.] So us poor people don't have to go around looking like we've been dragged through a bush backwards & smelling like Poundland hairspray any longer.
Their range boasts fine fragrances, proper nourishing ingredients and an Instagrammable AF aesthetic that I can barely cope with. They're a hot topic in the blogging industry at the moment - and for good reason.
I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to test out Ouai's Texturizing Hair Spray*, Wave Spray* aaaaand Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets* recently - so true to form, let's have a goss about the results; shall we?
Ouai Wave Spray, RRP £22 full size, £10 travel size
This was the first product I tried out - as I LOVE a good boho look and wear my hair wavy 99.6% of the time [approx, when I've actually brushed it; like.] I was proper desp to see the effect this spray would have on my locks - and I was not disappointed.
When spritzed onto ya hair; this product adds waves, volume, texture and effortless, boho chic vibes instantly - from the root to the tip. It smells fab and doesn't leave your hair dry, crispy, hard or greasy [like other similar, salt spray-esque products seem to do to me] - instead leaving it beautifully soft and manageable; yet tousled to perfection. It's the ultimate hair life hack for lazy day chic and hot Summer days round the pool.
Texturizing Hair Spray, RRP £22 Full Size, £10 Travel Size
Instagram goals or what?! Puts my Asda Smart Price hairspray cans to absolute shame and back this does! Ouai's Texturizing Spray is, without a doubt, the best hairspray I've ever used – it’s so light formula-wise and perfect for prepping ya out-out hair [& adding volume to my curly blow.]
Fragrance-wise it smells proper incredible; giving ya hair stacks of hold & volume without leaving it looking crispy or flakey in the slightest. It feels nourishing - almost like a mist - and looks totes natural when sprayed onto ya mane.
Anti Frizz Hair Sheets, RRP £20 for 15 sachets
Even if these sheets had been properly turd, I'd have still married them purely for the 10/10 pun usage on their packaging. 'You won't believe this sheet!' is possibly the funniest slogan I've ever seen on a haircare product - and further testament to how cutting-edge and refreshing Ouai are as a brand. And FYI, they're not turd in the slightest... instead they are bae. Ouai Bae.
The sheets themselves smell fab - the scent of which sorta reminds me of Summer and holidays past. They give ya locks a proper silky look, and flatten all rogue flyaways & frizz without weighing your hair down or making it look dead greasy. When my wild birdsnest excuse for hair goes fluffy or a bit mad, running one of these wipes over it straightens out any mad kinks and leaves it looking sleeker & in better condition. It's left looking nourished, glossy and healthy - rather than greasy or flat; which are my hair's usual go to looks!
I've properly enjoyed my first ever experience with this brand - and actually making some effort with my hair for a change! If you're looking for high end luxury without the high end AF price-tags, just say ‘Ouai'...
