When I was a young whippersnapper, there was nothing on this earth that could compare to the excitement and magicalness that was a trip to Toys R Us in Manchester. You had to pure trek to get there... but oh my days, it was a feeling like nothing else on this earth. EUPHORIC.
I've become a lot [lot] older, miserable & cynical since then; but if there's one place on earth that gets my inner child going these days [and makes me giddy at just the thought of it] it's exploring World Duty Free at the airport. It's a magical treasure trove of all my favourite things and proper lavish luxuries all in one place; waiting to be explored. And so Instagrammable too - all the counters and perfume bottles are legit heavenly. I'd book a holiday purely for the Duty Free shopping opportunities tbh. This blog post takes a look at just a few of the beauty goodies and brands you can take advantage of whilst shopping there; and I can't even cope.
I didn't actually know this until collaborating with World Duty Free on this post, but you can actually browse the incredible selection of beauty products and offers they have on their website before you fly... and reserve them to collect when you pass through Duty Free [provided that the terminal you're passing through has these products available.] I think I'd be more excited about that than the actual holiday I was headed to, tbh! Soooo that's an extremely dangerous opportunity just waiting to tempt me if I can ever afford to leave the country again, isn't it? And if NatWest haven't blocked my cards by then. Trolololol.
WDF legit stock every makeup product, fragrance and brand of my dreams. Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette? CHECK - and with £6.60 off the RRP you'd get it for outside of the airport terminal. Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, YSL, Benefit, NARS, Tom Ford... the list of baes goes on & on and makes me cry / drool / weep at their intense beauty. I've decided that working at World Duty Free Beauty HQ would be the actual best job in the world and my new life goal. ALL DEM PRODUCTS - if only just to look at and admire. I'm aware that I sound like some kind of a makeup crackhead as I type this; but that's okay, cos that's pretty much what I am these days.
Here's a few goodies I was kindly sent to try out for this post - accompanied by approximately 300,000 photos because these products are too beautiful to not take an obscene number of photos of. Soz not soz.
Burberry Runway Eyeshadow Palette*, WDF Price £41.75
I've never owned anything genuine Burberry in my life [just some BurBARRY off the back of the market when I was a teenager; where I used to get my school skirts for £3 off Mr Patel and also buy knock off John Paul Gaultier perfume which was called... 'Bondage'. Okay then huns xox] so to be the proud owner of this limited edition Runway Palette is almost too much to cope with. I'm almost scared to use it and mess up the camo pattern - but I will definitely be [carefully] prodding at it with some of my [most gentle] eyeshadow brushes now the blog photos are out of the way!
Everything about this palette is so lux, so beautifully designed and so Instagrammable. The compact itself has an inbuilt mirror and comes in a velvet storage pouch complete with mini brushes and applicators. The ultimate airport indulgence.
bareMinerals Under Over Statement Lip Liner in Graphic*, WDF Price £11.70
I frigging love lip liners - I use them to define and enhance the shape of my pout [my top lip is a bit camera shy] and will quite often just go the whole hog and colour my entire lips with them too... as I love how long the colour lasts and how once it's on: it stays put. The number of times I've been properly enjoying a good brew or a glass of wine only to look in the mirror & see I resemble The Joker with pure lippy flicks either side of my mouth....
This is a beautiful, versatile and wearable shade; from a highly acclaimed brand that I've only ever had the pleasure [so far] in my life of trying loose powders from before now. Lip products are one of my main vices [after eyeshadow palettes] - so you'll see why this fab parcel that the gals at WDF picked out for me suits my taste so perfectly. I can't wait to get creating some looks with this.
Last but not least is this fun Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor Lipstick*, WDF Price £18.35
Now, I would be lying if I said I didn't sh*t myself when I initially saw this lippy. It's blue. Navy blue. BRIGHT NAVY BLUE. I'm not cool or young enough to pull off a pirate pout these days. And that when I first applied it - and swatched it - it remained pretty blue on me, and I was scared / looked like the walking dead. But it soon blended and developed [in with no remnants of blue] - working with my skin's undertones to create a bespoke plummy-pink, glossy shade.
It makes my lips look plumper, soft and super glossy; with a subtle plum tint [& boasting blue / cold undertones to make ya teeth look whiter. Yaaaaaas Lipstick Queen!]
This is a quirky, fun and beautifully packaged lipstick & I'm game as a badger to try out more from Lipstick Queen after the fun I've had with this one. Just make sure your lips are smooth without any dry skin on them before you apply it, otherwise slight remnants of blue will remain for longer; as it takes the formula longer to soften and melt into ya lips.
I already knew from my own, mind-blowing experiences exploring Duty Free at the airport that the brands & bargains you can discover there are just something else; but receiving these beautiful products, constantly obsessing over World Duty Free's Insta feed & browsing their website whilst researching this post has properly, PROPERLY made me wanna make a huge order with them & book at least 30 flights in as many days, so I can pick up all my goodies and just bask in the luxurious atmosphere of the stores. I can no longer cope. Send help, nudes and plane tickets; please.
