Let's face it, skincare isn't always that sexy. The number of times I've answered the door with blobs of Sudocrem around my face, like some kind of weird dot to dot [or should I say... spot to dot? Dot to spot? Hmm, I feel if I was cleverer, I could have made a bloody fantastic pun out of that #WastedOpportunity] puzzle is quite frightening.

Don't get me wrong, I love relaxing in the tub with a good face mask - I've been really enjoying trying out Fresh Naturals' amazingly organic range of skincare and this Vichy Clay face mask too, but sometimes, I just wish that skincare and banishing spots could be more... subtle. Yeno? Like more convenient - I can't exactly pop to the corner shop with a bright green face mask on, but on a Saturday night, I need a bottle of wine and less blemish-filled skin; and it's a difficult lifestyle to balance.

Good news - I've found a skincare product from La Roche-Posay that's 100% more subtle, infinitely times sexier than the Sudocrem situation and brilliant when used as a primer, too.

This is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Unifant* rrp £16.50, 40ml. It's an innovative cream for dealing with any imperfections and marks you have on your skin. It works to unclog your pores and minimise any imperfections on your face, and contains La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, too [ooh la la!] It comes in two universal shades; I have it in the shade Fair / Light, but it also comes in Light / Medium, too. In a nutsshell, it's award winning blemish control - with skin-perfecting sheer coverage. Winner winner, chicken dinner

It has some pretty impressive stats - 91% of those who've tried this say that the product is lightweight on their skin, 78% said that marks, redness & other imperfections were minimised and 75% agreed that this product smoothed their skin.

The full Effaclar range [championed by dermatologists and pharmacists alike] is clinically proven to be effective on oily, blemish prone skin. Each of these products contains:

- Niacinamide, which is an anti-inflammatory active ingredient for intensive soothing
- Piroctone Olamine, to combat bacterial infection
- LHA for its keratolytic action - speeding up the rate at which the skin cells renew
- Targeted Linoleic Acid, to regulate sebum
- And Procerad, the pluripotent ceramide able to diffuse inflammation within 1 day, plus preventing and treating post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

This product offers a light and non-sticky, melt-in texture; suitable even for sensitive skin - and is equally effective on men and women alike. It's quickly absorbed without the need to pure rub it in [as this can make inflammation worse] and it also gives light, natural coverage; to even your skin tone instantly. It doesn't block your pores and the formula is proven to reduce blemishes in just 24 hours. La Roche-Posay recommend that you use their Effaclar Duo[+] Unifant daily, to cover, treat and prevent future imperfections.

So, how did I get on?

I've been wearing this product daily for the past few weeks, and I've really enjoyed the results I've seen so far. The Unifant's formula is lightweight and applies with a lovely texture; which isn't heavy or oily at all. It smells lovely and as soon as I apply it, it makes my skin feel really refreshed and rejuvenated. It's cooling, toning and mattifying on my combination skin - and has really helped reduced the amount of shine my fod normally experiences after a day at the office.

It's a fantastic primer - the biggest difference I've noticed when wearing this under my foundation is how much longer my makeup lasts - traa patches and pure oil slicks of makeup on my fod. I've not had to touch my makeup up at all really, whereas before the introduction of this product to my life, I'd have to top up my powder at least once during the day, to remain shine free.

With it being tinted, the Effaclar Duo[+] Unifant helps hide your spots and blemishes as it treats them, which is a TOTES welcome feature and definitely makes me feel better about myself. I've worn this alone as a light foundation on days I've wanted to go a bit more au natural in the makeup department; and it's given me tonnes more confidence to go out fresh faced, as it really evens my somewhat patchy skin tone out and stops my fod from shining [bright like a diamond.]

I've definitely noticed a change in my skin since using this product - and I'm loving it! Granted, the occasional spot sneaks through the net; but this stuff reduces its appearance a million percent from the get-go and I couldn't be happier with it. I've used BB creams before to try and achieve a similar effect [and failed] so I needn't touch them again, now I've found this little beauty #GameChanger

You can pick this fab product up at Boots, Escentual, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique and on the La-Roche Posay website, too. It's definitely one I'd recommend trying, if you're a member of team oily skin too!!

Do you suffer with oily skin? What products or brands help you? Do you have any other recommendations from La Roche Posay's range for me to try?
